At Life’sWork, we don’t work with clients just so they can land a job. We work with them so they can build a career, support their families, and make a lasting impression on their community.

We provide training and individualized support to unemployed and underemployed adults to help them prepare for real careers in today’s working world. From initial assessment and development to search assistance and ongoing support, we’re committed to guide our participants down a path of independence and self-sufficiency.

Who’s Eligible

Our tuition-free training courses are available to individuals who meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Reside in Allegheny County
  • Have a barrier to employment and want to optimize their career opportunities

Our Programs

Modern Office Essentials

8 Week Training Course, 9AM—3PM

Our Modern Office Essentials course is designed to train participants to work on the front lines of service. This 8-week training program provides a comprehensive approach to customer service and technical skills, helping trainees jump start a career.

Program Highlights:

  • Learn the basics of Microsoft Office Programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Attain the skills of professionalism, communication, work ethic, phone etiquette, and customer interaction
  • Develop skills for the modern workplace through resume building, mock interviews, cover letter writing, and job search assistance

2020 Start Dates: February 3, April 13, June 22, August 31, November 9

Microsoft Office Certification

4-Week Training Course, 9AM-3PM

91% of supervisors say Microsoft Office Certified employees are more productive. Demonstrate that you have the skills needed to command the full features and functionality of Microsoft Office.

Program Highlights:

  • Benchmark your skills through a formative assessment used to prescribe a course plan specific to each student
  • A full eBook of courseware guides you through quizzes and hands-on activities using Microsoft Office
  • Practice exercises allow you to learn from your errors and perfect your skills
  • Combine your skills and creativity in a hands-on customizable and project-based exercise
  • Prepare for the official exam with a practice test designed to mirror the exam experience
