Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant will assist in the preparation of the monthly financial reports to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, results of operations, and other related financial activities.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform general accounting and other related duties in the accounting department.
- Assist in the preparation of periodic (monthly) financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
- Maintains the general ledger.
- Reconcile and analyze all asset and liability accounts on a monthly basis and investigate any discrepancies.
- Review and analyze all revenue and expense accounts, identify any variances from budget expectations
- Reconcile bank accounts at least monthly, and verify that all deposits are classified and recorded correctly.
- Provides outside auditors with assistance; gather necessary account information and documents to perform an annual audit.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:
- Two years of accounting experience required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Knowledge of accounting for a nonprofit entity preferred.
- Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Highly proficient with accounting software; knowledge and experience with Abila MIP accounting software for nonprofits desirable.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
Compensation: $48,000 – 60,000 based upon knowledge and experience

- Offer 12 holidays per year
- Retirement Plan (403(b) Thrift Plan):
- Eligible to contribute upon hire
- Matches 100% up to 5% of employee’s contribution after one year
- Mileage reimbursement:
- Follows the federal mileage rate.
