Community Partnerships

In its 85 years of operation, Life’sWork has developed partnerships with a wide range of business and community leaders who lend support in helping the agency to achieve its mission:

NISH - A support network for nonprofits as well as Federal customers. As a member of the NISH network,

Life’sWork is qualified to service Federal contracts through the AbilityOne Program. Life’sWork also participates in the NISH Teleservices Program, an initiative designed to support members building and operating a successful contact center and CSR training program. Called INAccess, this framework is based upon the Best Practices of ICMI, a premier contact center consulting, certification, and seminar/forum organization that now also owns the Help Desk Institute.

Referral Sources- Life’sWork continues to build upon strong working relationships with referral sources to ensure continued sustainability of the program: the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR), Southwestern Pennsylvania County MH/MR units, Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, Department of Veteran’s Affairs, Pittsburgh Public Schools and other Allegheny County school districts.

In addition, Life’sWork has many agreements and contracts with community organizations throughout Allegheny, Westmoreland, Washington, and Fayette Counties. The organization also has memberships with many community organizations and business groups including the Pittsburgh Airport Area Chamber of Commerce, Northern Allegheny County Chamber of Commerce, Washington County Chamber of Commerce, SMC Business Councils, VisitPittsburgh and Greater Pittsburgh Postal Customer Council. Community organizations include the Regional Coalition of Community Builders, and the Greater Pittsburgh Supported Employment Association, which advocates, promotes, and practices the principles of community employment for persons with disabilities.
